Murdough Design is a design-driven and award winning architecture firm that focuses on residential and small institutional projects. We are a small, collaborative architecture studio. We design unique responses to the specifics of place, site, use, and client desires. We merge practical requirements with intangible qualities distinct to each design problem. Our approach considers relationships between landscape and architecture, space and light, material and form. We believe that architecture has the power to enrich lives. TOM mURDOUGH,aIa - PRINCIPAL

Tom founded Murdough Design in October 2007. With over twenty years of experience in architecture, Tom’s background includes fine arts, construction, and manufacturing. Tom received a Bachelor of Arts in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master’s in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Prior to founding Murdough Design, Tom was an Associate at Maryann Thompson Architects.

JENNY TJIA, LEED - DESIGNER - SENIOR ASSOCIATE

Jenny joined Murdough Design in 2008 and brings twenty years of experience working on residential, institutional, and corporate architecture.  Jenny received a Master of Architecture with Letter of Commendation from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science majoring in Architecture from MIT.  Jenny previously worked at Davis Brody Bond and Maryann Thompson Architects.

ERIC CARLSOn, RA - ASSOCIATE

Eric has over ten years of experience working on custom residential projects throughout New England.  He is a licensed architect in the state of MA and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University where he was awarded the AIA Henry Adams award for academic achievement.  Eric also studied abroad in Florence, Italy. Prior to Murdough Design, Eric worked at Hacin + Associates in Boston.

MICHELLE SHAHEEn, RA - ASSOCIATE

Michelle has twelve years of experience working on single-family homes and institutional projects in New England and the Pacific Northwest. Combining her love of the outdoors and art, she finds inspiration in nature, craft, and the human experience. She’s a licensed architect in the state of Massachusetts and received her Master’s in Architecture from Northeastern University. Prior to joining Murdough Design, Michelle worked at Scott Edwards Architecture in Portland, OR.

BRIAN FITZPATRICK - DESIGNER - Associate

Brian comes to Murdough Design with a diverse range of experience, from large institutional projects to private residences. He has a passion for environmental sensitivity and regional vernacular design. Brian’s architectural perspective also draws from a background in art and a concentration in landscape architecture during his time at the University of Oklahoma. Prior to Murdough Design, Brian worked at Ann Beha Architects in Boston.

ALEX CASE - DESIGNER

Alex brings over six years of experience from healthcare and commercial architecture. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University where he focused on digital fabrication and explored architectural photography. Prior to joining Murdough Design, Alex was an Associate at Isgenuity in Boston.

TINA TOLIS MURDOUGH - OFFICE MANAGER

Tina joined Murdough Design in the fall of 2018. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Archaeology and Fine Arts from Harvard College and a Master’s in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Tina was previously employed at Sasaki Associates in Watertown, MA and Leers Weinzapfel Associates in Boston.
